Classified Advertising On The Internet
Powerful marketing campaigns are implemented by most professional Internet marketers. Their advertising budgets are quickly used up by every kind of advert you can think of, from tiny microsites all the way up to full page advertisements in newspapers and magazines. Productive advertising campaigns need not break your bank, however. If you use modern online marketing techniques, you can achieve most of your program for a fraction of the cost that many willingly pay.
Advertising online, utilizing classified websites, is a big league method of promoting your product and it's free or almost free in many cases. The Craigslist and USFreeads websites, to name but two, are viewed by hundreds of thousands of potential customers and they won't demand the keys to your car to let you advertise with them. Some of the larger sites, for example Yahoo, are getting into the classifieds act. Check them out.
Every day, an increasing number of buyers find what they want to buy online and they do so with speed and ease because of Internet classifieds. It's time you took advantage of this wonderful opportunity and all you have to do is visit one of the many classifieds websites and register. Registering is simple and quick and then you can post your first classified advert online. Sometimes the classified site permits lengthy descriptions of your product, full contact details and maybe even one or more photographs.
There are some things to bear in mind when building a classified advertisement. Here is a list of the main points:
- You must get across the fundamental aspects of the item you are selling. Describe the main features and any detail that sets it apart from your competitors' goods.
- Sweeten the deal. Money off, a free gift or a cast iron money-back guarantee. People want to be given something, they want to feel they've got a good deal. No matter how good a deal you're offering, it does no harm to sweeten it a little. Make them an offer they can't refuse.
- Tell them where to send the money! This is the most important part of the advert but it's amazing how many sellers hide their contact details and their ordering information. Don't be diffident, tell them upfront how to buy. If you have room, tell them again in the middle of your pitch and, last but by no means least, tell them at the end.
- Don't just put your advert up on one website and wait in hope. Put it on every site you can find. You'll soon discover which sites work for that item, so concentrate on those ones and improve them. However, you should bear in mind that buyers often like to see a product advertised a few times before they buy. It gives them a feeling of trust in the company.
- Experiment with a number of versions of your advertisement. Make them as different as possible. When you are satisfied that one advert outperforms the others, make slightly different versions of that one and test again. Keep fine tuning until you get the perfect ad.
- Don't expect a huge return from your classified ad campaign. If you find it profitable, even mildly so, spread more and more ads around. The real money is in the list of satisfied customers that you build. You can email them with fresh offers that have been carefully crafted to appeal to that group. You can also try upselling to a newer, better, more expensive product after a while.
- Classifieds don't have to sell to be successful. If your classified campaign can drive targetted traffic to your website where you can pitch a full color ad with all the bells and whistles, it's a successful campaign.
Try it out on a small scale to begin with. Keep testing and changing. Keep notes of which details perform best. Even if you fail to make a profit, which is unlikely if you give it your best shot, you'll gain valuable information about what sells your product.
